Every single registered domain name has at least 2 Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your Internet domain to the servers of a specific website hosting company. That way, you have both your site and your emails managed by the very same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there are a number of other records, for example A and MX. The former shows which server handles the website for a given domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one indicates which server manages the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an example, when you type a domain name in your web browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain address uses and from there you may be sent to the servers of a different provider in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain name. Having different records for the website and the emails means you may have your site and your emails with two different providers if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Web Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes with each and every web hosting plan which we offer you, allows you to see, modify and create A and MX records for every domain name or subdomain inside your account. Through the DNS Records section, you will be able to see a list of all hosts in the account from a to z with their corresponding records, so any update will not take you more than a few clicks. Creating new records is equally easy if, for example, you want to use the e-mail services of a different service provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default 2. Additionally you can set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. Put simply, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it'll contact the next one. Through our state-of-the-art tool, you'll be able to manage the records of your domain addresses and subdomains easily even if you have no previous experience with such matters.
